Sound Shore Arts & Music Festival

NEW LOCATION!! NEW NAME!! SAME GREAT FESTIVAL!!

...After having been given our dates and with festival organization in full swing, unfortunately the Tiki Bar decided to cancel on us...so we no longer have use of the Boardwalk at Playland for our event! HOWEVER...Rye Town Park, just down the beach a bit, has graciously come to our rescue!! We have a beautiful NEW HOME along the beachside path at Rye Town Park....and a NEW NAME! The Sound Shore Arts & Music Festival!! So come on out and join us September 21-22 10-6 for some fabulous art, great live music by area musicians and an amazing children's activity area hosted by the Westchester Children's Museum, Clay Art Center, and Edith Read Sanctuary!!

Artist Preview Day!! October 5th 12-6!!

With an iffy weather forecast for Sunday the 7th....we are adding on Friday!! Come out and enjoy the great weather on Friday and Saturday!!! We also have a raindate of Monday October 8th, 12-6 scheduled in the event Sunday is cancelled....so come on down to the Boardwalk!! (Take THAT Al Roker!!)

The Westchester Children's Museum Mission Statement

MISSION
The Westchester Children’s Museum will be a vibrant, interactive learning space providing children, families and school groups the opportunity to nurture curiosity, enhance knowledge and ignite imagination through creative hands-on exploration. The WCM is committed to broadening knowledge of the arts, the environment, multiculturalism, and the local and global communities in an educational and recreational atmosphere.
The Westchester Children’s Museum will provide:
Vibrant interactive, safe settings where children and adults can come together to interact with each other and others in their community
Hands-on programs designed to stimulate creative thinking and problem-solving skills
Accessibility for all learning styles and abilities
A new venue for school trips, including pre- and post-visit programs

Educational Resource Center

Parent programs to support deeper learning

Even before the walls are up, the Museum is providing educational outreach programming for a variety of community-based organizations. The Museum Without Walls program partners with such organizations as the Boys and Girls Clubs; Family Services of Westchester, and Port Chester Carver Center. Funding for these programs come from corporate and foundation grants. Since its official kick-off in early 2010, the Museum Without Walls program has served over 40 community centers and school groups and 2000 children.
